Zac & You Team

Deborah Lomax
Founder of Zac & YouÂ
Designer/ Costume Maker
Hi I'm Debbie and I'm the founder of Zac & You. My passion for working with textiles and clothing started when I was in secondary school where I loved my art and design textiles class. My love for this eventually took me to doing a BTEC in Fashion and Clothing, I enjoyed pattern cutting and making clothing but not so much the drawing side and so I failed to find a degree course I really wanted to do and I never pursued going into Fashion.
Roll on to 2019 and things changed when Zac started to do dance comps and his teacher set him his first duet. He was to be a cockatoo from Rio. I tackled the challenge head on and my first costume was born. See the gallery for Pictures. This lead to more complicated designs such as Spongebob! I really loved doing it, but I never thought I could do it for a living. Then I started to get some requests from other parents at the dance school.
Then in 2020 after alot of encouragement from friends I saw a advert for a business school that was running for free in my town and decided to pop along and see what could happen. It was there that the original business name of D Lomax Designs was born and started, Then Covid hit!

That brings us to now (2021) and after some thought I decided as the world of dance started to reopen I would relaunch but we needed a facelift I just wasn't feeling the name D Lomax Designs so that's when Zac & You was born, Zac because he is the reason I started designing again after a long break from the sewing world, and he inspires me every day and You because I want to work with You to achieve your dream costume. I want to be part of your dance journey, if you will let me that is!

Madi
Ambassador
Hi I'm Madi and I'm almost 13 years old. I'm really excited to be an ambassador for Zac & You as I love my costumes and practice wear from them!

Let me tell you a little about myself. I started dancing at 2 years old and instantly fell in love with it. Like many babies, I started with ballet and tap and soon took on extra classes until I danced for 15 hours a week before Covid! I also started taking gymnastics lessons at age 3 and by 6 years old I was competing at both dance and gymnastics across the Yorkshire region. Whilst I love winning medals, performing on stage gives me a buzz like nothing else in the world, despite still getting nervous before I go on!

I like all styles of dance but my absolute favorite is acro as it combines both of my passions.

I'm hoping to take GCSE Dance next year so I can achieve my ambition of being either a professional dancer or a dance teacher.

Zac
Ambassador
My name is Zac, I'm 8 Years old and my mum is the designer/owner of Zac & You. I love all the costumes and practice wear she makes me I think she is ace! I love showing off my costumes.

I started dancing just after my 5th Birthday and have been there ever since. I started with 3 days a week doing ballet, tap, street and acro. I soon started adding classes and I was dancing for 10 Hours a week plus private lessons for setting new routines before Covid hit! I hope to return to that soon. I love dancing with all the age groups and I even have competition routines with our other ambassador Madi. Also her little sister Morgan is my duet partner and is my BFF! I love doing comps and performing on stage and I have won some medals and even some trophies. Its not all about the winning though I really do just love being on stage even if sometimes it's scary, like when we do big shows at the Cast to a large audience.

I love all styles of dance. but my favorite style of dance at the moment is ballet and I love helping teach the younger kids at my dance school. I love my new lyrical comp routine at the moment it's to Lost Boys by Ruth B I can't wait to put it on stage.

Besides Dance I also do Gymnastics for 2 hours a week I started in February 2020 just before I turned 7 and love that I am in an all boys class. Gymnastics is hard but really fun.

When I'm older I would like to be a Dancing Detective.
